1 Colossians 3:15-17 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (NIV)

A Fund-raiser For Our Fellowship Center

Washington Boro, Pa., is famous for it's local tomatoes. In the 1930's, a small group of farmers formed a co-op known as the Washington Boro Tomato Assoc. The association grew a variety of tomatoes such as the Rutgers, Stokesdale, Bonnie Best, and Valiant varieties. They became quite commercial and, at it's peak, raised as many as 150,000 tomato plants.

If you would like to know more:

A hard-working committee has been formed by WBUMC called "Catch The Vision Committee". They are dedicated to raising funds specifically for the completion of our Fellowship Center. One such fund-raiser they have put together is a summer event called the "Tomato Feast". It involves many tomatoes such as: a tomato sauce cook-off, a meal made up of different tomato dishes, tomato sandwiches, tomato crafts, silent auctions of tomato objects, games for the kids, and a tomato tasting table made up of from our very own "Tomato Cookbook". The wonderful congregants of Washington Boro United Methodist Church submitted all of their favorite tomato recipes to the committee organizers and they put together a wonderful cookbook. The recipes are creative and established. They are inspired by the mature and refined by the contemporary.

If you would like to purchase one of our Tomato Cookbooks, you may send a $10.00 donation plus $2.00 shipping and handling to Washington Boro UMC, 1964 Water Street, PO Box 57, Washington Boro, PA, 17582. Please be sure to include your return address.

We hope you will enjoy our tomato recipes and offer our thanks in helping us fulfill our dream of a new Fellowship Center. May God bless you for your support.
